Kidney Car Program

It’s time to spring clean your garage! Get rid of clunker clutter! Donate old and unwanted vehicles and benefit two great causes.

If you or anyone you know has old or unwanted vehicles, such as trucks, motorcycles, trailers, ATVs or even farm equipment, consider donating them to the Kidney Car Program. All it takes is one phone call to 1-888-538-1057.  Your vehicle will be towed away for free and all the deregistration paperwork taken care of.  Please make sure you tell them you heard about the program through BCAA and/or are a Member.

In return for your donation, you will receive a tax receipt for a minimum of $75. The BCAA Road Safety Foundation will receive part of the proceeds from donations made by BCAA members and referrals through the 1-888-538-1057 line.

The Kidney Car Program is a recycling program that benefits the environment, vehicle owners and two great causes: the BCAA Road Safety Foundation and the Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch.

Since 1995, the Kidney Car Program has recycled almost 25,000 vehicles. Now, with BCAA’s involvement and the involvement of our network of towing contractors, the program is being extended province wide.

How the process works

Here’s how the process works:

  • Contact the Kidney Car Line at 1-888-538-1057 or lorik@kidney.bc.ca to arrange a time for your vehicle to be towed.
  • The tow truck driver will arrive at your house or place of business at an agreed upon date and time.
  • The tow truck driver will ask you to sign a Donation Agreement and ICBC transfer form.
  • The tow truck driver will provide you with an acknowledgement of your donation (copy of Donation Agreement).
  • Your car will be towed free of charge.
  • Your official tax receipt will arrive by mail six to eight weeks after the donation.

It’s a great way to get rid of old and unwanted vehicles that may be taking up space in your garage or yard, and to benefit the environment and two charitable causes at the same time.
