Now that you are driving on your own, you will need car insurance. Insurance will help pay for injuries and damage if you are in a crash.
Saving Money on Insurance
Risk of a crash is much higher for teen drivers, particularly during the first year of driving. So, your insurance rates usually cost more. Here are a few ways you can help your family save money:
- Drive carefully - crashes and tickets can cause insurance rates to increase
- Share vehicles – how you are classified (a main or occasional driver) will affect your insurance rate
- Consider vehicle type - the kind of car you drive can impact your insurance rate
- Partner with your parents – follow your parent-teen driving agreement
