Learning to drive is like many other activities — playing sports, video games or a musical instrument — you have to practice to get better. You might think you will get enough experience through driver education, but that’s not the case.
- Start with the basics — look at the owner’s manual, learn where everything is and what everything does
- Talk to your parents - agree on how to communicate when practice driving
- Begin with simple driving – start in an empty parking lot or quiet street, then gradually drive on more challenging roadways
- Practice in a variety of conditions
- Highways
- City streets
- Rainy weather
- Nighttime
- Heavy traffic
